Hi,

Few years ago I swap my tired OEM shock with a kit from Arnott's. I installed the electronic box as requested and everything worked as planned.
I also later swap the air compressor which was dead by the one in the Arnott's kit.

Now it's dead again and I'm pissed off paying around 200-300 euros for a rebuilt one.

I'd like to swap my shocks by regular one.
How to override what's left of the autoride so I can use regular shocks without the "service" message on the dashboard.

What if I jsut replace actual arnott's/bilstein shock by a pair of KYB344384 GR-2 / Excel-G shocks ?

Get bilstein shocks(~$70 a piece?).You wont be happy with low end KYB's.

Also replace your rear springs with ones from a non autoride vehicle (Moog makes both Z71 and non z71 replacements) The z71 spring will lift ~1" and is stiffer. Nice if you tow a lot as well. The autoride equipped vehicles have very weak springs designed to be supported by the rear air bags. Remove the air bags and the springs are way too weak. Not to mention years of use/wear and tear.

Inspect your front "bump stops" (jounce stops actually). A lot of people overlook these when servicing suspension and they are cheap and easy to replace while the vehicle is in the air. They also apparently make a big difference.

Finally, to turn off service air ride warning, simply disconnect the battery cable and remove the air ride fuse/relay in the fuse box under the hood. Then reconnect the battery (without the fuse in place) and the vehicle will think that it never had airride.

this is the non z71 jounce stop. The z71 one is a bit stiffer and taller IIRC.

I wouldnt buy the arnott kit.

Moog non z71 spring:

Moog z71 spring:

Just purchase shocks for a non autoride equipped vehicle. They bolt right in.
non lifted applications:

The 5100 versions are often around the same price as the 4600 and come with the nice chrome finish if that matters to you at all. I have them on my Jeep.

No problem! I agonized over the same thing for a long time. At the end of the day all you have to do is replace the springs and the shocks in the rear. Then all you have to do is make the computer think there was never the airride to begin with. Mich more simple then it seems.
