Hey All. Haven't been a while on the forums but trying to get back to working on my tahoe. I ended up moving back to colorado and wanna install remote start since my last car had it and was great to have in the winter time. Question is I bought a idata link multi ADS-DL bypass modular and about to get the viper 5704. Question is for the install part so I get this right,on the idatalink, you only need the far right connector which has the data(0range) and ignition cable (pink) cables. Connect the data to the data connector pin 2 on the OBDII Connector and ignition goes to the ignition of the viper 5704 ignition, which then goes to the ignition harness on the tahoe which is pink. Then on the 5704 I need to connect the parking light which is brown (driver kick panel), ignition 2 wire from the 5704 to the white wire on ignition harness, all power and ground cables on the 5704, and then accessory on the 5704 to orange wire on ignition harness. Then the data link cable connects from the viper to the idatalink modular. If I am missing anything else please let me know. O if somebody did the window up and down modular, how hard is that to install to. I installed my last alarm but this is a newer car (my old one was a easier to install). I don't wanna take it to the shop since I had an issue before with an installer and rather do it myself and try it out. Thanks

I am not too familiar with that module. Try posting this question in the "Car Security " section of the forums over on www.the12volt.com I am sure that they can answer this for you.

When D2D first came out years ago, it was having a lot of hiccups. I would think those quirks would be fixed by now. W2W would still need to be used if you were installing a different brand of remote start that was not D2D capable. D2D DEFINITELY is a huge time and labor saver since there are far fewer connections to make. A lot of vehicles can now get lock/unlock, door triggers, domelight turn on, parking lights, tach signal, and even hood pin and trunk pin (if the vehicle is equipped with them). So if you can avoid making ALL those connections, its a huge time saver. But It still pisses me off that shops will charge an extra labor fee (in addition to the alarm/remote start install fees) to install a bypass/ingtegration module when in reality they are SAVING time and labor by installing it. I know Best Buy charges an extra $100 or so to install a module in addition to the alarm. Its all a scam IMO. I used to be an installer years ago, but I stopped around 2004 which is around the time they started needing these bypass modules for virtually EVERY vehicle. I remember in 2001 whne the Trailblazer first came out. It was an installer's nightmare. But about a year later, they started making ingtegration modules for them. And in late 2002, all the 03 GM Fullsize trucks and SUV's switched to the same databus wiring as the 02 Trailblazer. From then until now, you either need to get a module, or go inside each and every door and hardwire 2 relays to each doorlock actuactor just to unlock the doors. So you can see how much an integration module can help an installer. It is no extra work, its a lifesaver. But then again, installers these days will tell you that it simply cannot be done without a bypass module. It actually can be done, but will take more than 5 or 6 hours of extra labor compared to a few wires on a module being connected in no more than 5 minutes.

Appreciate the help. I will try out d2d first out, if it acts up I will switch it to a w2w install. One last question, I know I need a relay for the 2nds accessory since the alarm only has one accessory input and need to wire the relay like this
http://www.commandocaralarms.com/2ndstarterwire.asp . Can I use that same wiring method for the accessory 2 since I have 2 accessories? I guess this install really looks like a breeze. My last car was alot harder lol haha.

I decided to just go with the xpresskit and the viper 5704. Nobody in colorado has the idatalink cable to plug to the computer (Don't want to spend the $60) and will take it to bb and ask if they can just quickly program it for me. I will do d2d and then if I get any issues, I will just switch to w2w
