I have a 2WD 99 Tahoe and I love it. 225,000 miles and it still runs great, not to mention its one of the most comfortable rides ever for a road trip. However, I have had to replace both the idle and pitman arm twice. I bought it at 50,000 miles and they seem to go out every 70,000-90,000 miles.I've just been told I need to replace my idle arm again. Is this common? Do they wear out fairly consistently? How can I prolong their life?

They do wear out fairly often.... best way to keep em in good shape is to buy top quality parts and keep them greased. I have seen them last a very long time with regular greasing, problem is that most quick lubes don't even know there are zerks hidden up there!
