I have it mounted just above my hitch right now. Works for visibility. Sucks for depth perception. Need something higher looking down. But there's not many places on our trunk to mount higher. Like. By the glass would be good but then the wiper's in the way a little bit. Any ideas here? I saw another user who put it inside the glass release button. Pretty slick. But my issue with that is it only looks out, not down. I wanted something like an aerial view looking down at the bumper as would an OE dash cam on basically any newer model car.

Any ideas? Possibly pics of what you've done with yours?

Could you possible drill out some of your third brake light and fit it in there and then seal it?
I've never tried it that high up so not sure on angle. Escalade third light would be best since it sticks way out.

I think unless it sticks out past the 3rd brake light, if mounted there flush the curve of the rear door might block the bumper or hitch.

I have barn doors, I had the same problem as you so I moved it to my door handle key hole, angled down just a smidge and I can see my hitch great, and out the back great too.

The shop that did mine mounted my backup cam to the step pads on my rear bumper. Right in the middle where the step pads meet together. It's in between my tailgate, and bumper. It's perfect right above the the license plate and looks down over the hitch to where I can see the hitch perfect, and depth perception is very good.
