I think my suv is lifter ticking :( It was a BAD idea using AFM again :banghead::banghead:
Oil pressure is good at 45PSI...
What should i do? now just use the disable chip?? to mitigate further damage?

If a lifter has collapsed, disabling AFM will not help as the damage has been done.

it has not collapsed yet no misfires
Only a few main reasons a lifter “ ticks” that I’m aware of. There could be more.

1) Lifter has jammed in between fully extended and fully retracted.
2) Roller on lifter is locked up (makes more of a screech than a tick)
3) Your push rod is bent
4) Your lifter rotated in the holder
5) your rocker arm is loose

None of which, I believe, will be solved or go away by disabling AFM. If it’s ticking now when it’s in V8 mode, it will tick after disabling AFM.

so if i keep it in v8 all the time would this minimize the chance for "complete failure"? i.e misfire condition tell i can get it fixed?

btw it has a non-interference engine... or Valve Relief Piston Kit
'

4) Your lifter rotated in the holder: probable
5) your rocker arm is loose: probable

if it was the other things it would misfire or bad vibration

btw it started happening while in V8 mode with the disabler chip

the Oil level was not low or anything

oil is clean no floating particles (changed it 1000 miles ago )

A collapsed lifter will not necessarily throw a code or cause noticeable vibration. We just had an AFM lifter collapse and no codes and no noticeable vibration.

Second the above (BG1988). Was sure it was a lifter but it was broken manifold bolts. Got those Kral gadgets and no more tick
Easy to check...
