I have the speaker wires soldered up and it all looks great but I'm pretty confused on the first step.

Does it mean just to do an inline splice to the bare wire or...?

Nevermind I figured it out and it works flawlessly!

there are a ton of different ways to splice. some do a splice where they strip the wire of its insulator, poke a hole thru the newly stripped wire, and wrap their new wire that theyre splicing in and warp it around. i use a t splice. it crimps around the wire, and then you install a male plug with the new wire crimped into it and youre done
