Interesting Escalade Intel

Went into Cadillac of Beverly Hills -- they had about 4 Premium Luxury and no Sport.

First, a few impressions, and then what the sales mgr told me.

The one I saw/sat in was Shadow Grey Metallic with Brandy interior -- a Premium Luxury with optional 2nd row screens. WOW. The fit and finish is absolutely on par w/ Range Rover and the others -- perhaps even more luxe. It's super impressive. The amount of cheap GM switchgear is at a minimum and I am here for it. Just blow away how impressive this thing is in the flesh.

Spoke to the store's sales mgr -- he said that Arlington had to hold Escalade production for 3 weeks because a supplier in Mexico had to shut down b/c of Covid. Production coming now, but super back ordered. He said response has been off the charts, and the factory is maxing out production until at least Christmas, where they hope to catch up to demand. Got invited back to test drive when they get a Sport in -- he said they're ordering about 70% Premium Luxury, 20% Platinum Luxury and 10% Sport (all trims). Personally, i think GM misjudged Sport demand -- I think it's WAY higher than what they're saying.

What makes the Escalade Sport--sporty? Different from the other Escalade models.

Personal taste — totally subjective. I like the black sport grille and the 22” rims that come only on the sport. The interior color combos seem a little more dark and sophisticated than the Luxury models (base, Premium Luxury, Platinum). And like the blacked-out c-pillar vs the chrome one.

It’s an amazing truck. I was surprised at how surprised I was.

I might want one in about 15 years when a used 2025 drops to a more reasonable 20-30k

I hear you. These will be selling close to sticker for a while — Arlington has max capacity for 300k units I believe, with about 40k slots for Escalade. With domestic demand and a widening list of export markets, they’ll sell every one they can make. The days of 10k on the hood are over.

I agree, If I do it, it will be a dark burgundy Sport with the black rims. Too much chrome on luxury models... I too seen one at a local dealership and was HIGHLY impressed. MASSIVE vehicle, I just have to really decide if I want that big of beast to deal with on a daily basis. On road trips it would be fantastic.... Don't expect to pay much below sticker, trying to figure out what else I could negotiate....

in 15 years I'm gonna be dead... and If I don't spend it my kids will no problem. Maybe you are not there yet, but there comes a point in life that not everything has to be a "Rational" money decision......
I just don't like taking the depreciation hit, in the first 5 years 1/2 the value or more is lost, if it was a $80,000 truck and 5 years later it's still worth 65-70k that wouldn't be so bad, but no they drop like a rock. I remember pricing a nnbs Denali on the gm order page it came out to dam near $80k, I ended up a few years later getting what I wanted used for $28k. But I get it I still have some years left in me I think.

I have to agree. Been driving a '17 Suburban as a daily for 3+ years now. Had an Avalanche before that for 10 years. The suburban drives small, so much different from the Avy. I can't imagine the new ones going back to a "big truck" feel.
