So I've had a thought about my interior lighting and decided to see if any of you have done this or can help me through it.

I'm going to go through the sticky and do my interior lights in LED's, but in addition to that I want to add something that seems to be a more German/Japanese thing...my Honda Pilot and my wife's 5-series BMW both have a sort of mood light that comes on when the headlights are on. It looks like just a low wattage amber bulb, possibly an LED that is positioned on the roof and down on the center console and casts a very mellow, dark, amber glow at night. I would love to do something like this in my '04 Tahoe, and I'm thinking it could be put in around the map lights, I just have no idea where to begin, especially with a custom LED job.

Any thoughts?

I know exactly what you are talking about, the red illumination that super dimly illuminated the console area and the door handles.

mood lighting or 'ambient' lighting

I suppose you could use wide angle LEDs with double large resistors? key though is that they are recessed so you absolutely can not see the 'bulb'
