I have a 2005 Yukon. Separate Front and Rear AC. The front AC seems cold enough but when the truck is first started with the AC set to Auto I'm barely getting any air. Once I drive for 1-3 minutes it will kick in and start blowing normal. I tried manually working the speed but during that 1-3 min time nothing will make it blow more. If I cut the truck off and come back in a few min to a couple hours it may work fine or may experience the same symptoms. I'm trying to figure out where/how to start trouble shooting. It seems from reading other posts here it may be the actuators or the pressure switch. I didn't seem to fins this exact issue so I started a new post. I do hear the compressor kicking in and like I mentioned there is a tiny bit of air and it is cold at the beginning. The rear AC is functioning fine. Thanks in advance.

I just fixed my '02 Yukon Rear AC. I had air blowing, but not cold. sometimes cool, sometimes ambient temperature. After researching here for AC issues, I was able to diagnose and ended up being my actuator for the temperature. there are two actuators for the front and two for the rear. One actuator controls temperature and the other controls air flow/direction. I was able to swap my rear temperature actuator with flow actuator and then the temperature worked, but i couldn't control air flow direction. You might be able to apply this logic for the front. Another possibility might be the blower resistor, but I didnt see one for the rear, so not sure where it is for the front, or if it even has one. The critical information i obtained for diagnosing the actuators by researching here is that if you can see your actuators move while you are making adjustments. say while you adjust air flow direction, then it is working as it should, if it seems to only move slightly, then it might be stuck.

AC issues are sometimes tough to diagnose. Sometimes it could just be low on refrigerant, which will cause low pressure and not activate or intermittently activate the pressure switches on the ac compressor. If you have a set of AC guages, you can check the low/high sides for correct pressures. Best $50 i ever spent at Harbor Freight.

On another vehicle of mine (BMW), i had intermittent AC issues and initially thought it was either blower resistor or pressure switch. Ended up being just a little low on R134a refrigerant, put in about 1/2-can and been working perfect ever since.
