I picked up a set of G4 tails and both have the hyperflash issue, but before ordering a set of resistors, I'd like to know if it's possible to modify the oem flasher relay? I've heard it's controlled by computer and not a relay, so it would be impossible to modify, but I can't get confirmation on this.

I was able to modify my Acura TL's relay(it didn't have an aftermarket option relay either) by removing it and soldering in a different size shunt resistor. I know many cars have analog relays that can easily be swapped, but I don't believe the newer cars use these type. Any idea?

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of...Everyone claims the G4s don't have the hyperflash issue, but both of mine currently do. I installed 6ohm 25w resistors and it did not fix the problem...I'm thinking the problem might be that I used 25w rather than 50w resistors. ANy ideas? Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply but supposedly GM can modify the relay just by programming the computer. They have the option due to the trucks they sell for service, ambulance, etc where they only sell the cab & frame. It's designed to be re-programmed to allow for LED turn signals, you just have to find a dealer or someone w/ the programmer to do it.

Whoa. That's pretty cool. Never heard that before.

To the OP -- Make sure you below-bumper harness connection is REALLY GOOD. If it's not a great connection, you can get the hyper flash. I got it with a set of OEM Denali lights (which aren't even LEDs). Turns out the harnesses weren't making a good connection on one of the lights (it was the truck-side harness, btw).
