I have tried several general shops with no luck, all have the same answer but I feel like they don't understand what I am asking to do. I figure this is a better place to ask. I have an 06 escalade with factory navigation head and 6 pack cd changer as a slave. My question is, can I remove the slave 6 pack cd changer and replace it with a regular single din deck that will work with the factory head unit. My goal here is to buy a mp3/blu tooth deck so I can play music off my phone or usb deck. I hate using the FM transmitter and would like to eliminate all cables (hence blue tooth capability). Everyone tells me I need RF modules to make it work, but I don't understand why since the head unit is still operating and everything is running through it. Anyone have ideas?

I have the same thread going on. ... just an fyi. I don't think toy would need anything but an adapter. The databus 2 communication is mainly handled by the radio, in otherwords, if we arent replacing the whole radio, we should be fine. Splice into the existing speakers and tie them into the cd player. Run a seperate 12v power with fuse and switch from the battery or tie into your 12v acc power. Once you are all powered up, switch your input to cdx and try audio from single din radio. This is my theory anywas, im getting ready to try this in about 2 hours. So ill let you know how it goes... also, if you have the rse , you could use the rca input on that and rca to 3.5mm to play music from your devices, just thought id let you knw

Please let me know how it turns out ninj45. I have the exact same theory, I figure there has to be power to the changer, just not a 12v constant, like u said. And to splice into the speaker wires from the head unit is not an issue. So what else is there to make it work? In my opinion nothing, just means that both units could operate at the same time which is pointless, except if u set one for front speakers and one for rear, but that doesn't interest me. All I want to do is get into my vehicle with my phone in my pocket and it automatically connect and play off of it. Plus I want to eliminate the need for cd, as I hate using discs. I did search but for so some reason ur thread never came up, oh well. Pease keep me posted, because I was just going to hack it in there myself and try it also.
