This is what I got from a quote:

Yukon 4:56 gears front
Yukon Master Install Kit front

Yukon 4:56 Gears rear
Yukon Master Install Kit rear
Yukon outer axle seals & bearings
Differential Fluids

Total parts & labor = $2350

lucky for me, only did rear, but bought gears and install kit, and an actual GM mechanic friend did install for $250.

I think parts alone will be about 1200-1300 and I'm guessing they are quoteing you 500 labor each end. It's on the high end but if you some homework you can probably get the parts for 1000 and find someone to do the install on the side.

That seems REALLY high.

Do a google search for Ron's Machining Service. They have Yukon gear packages with install kits. I just checked, the front and rear gear packages with install kits were somewhere around $600. If they don't come with Timken bearings, especially for the front, I'd ask for them. Rear really doesn't matter unless you just want peace of mind.

$1000 labor for both ends, tops. Don't see this costing more than $15-1600 total.

Buy the gears THEN take them to a shop for price quote. If they whine about not selling you the parts, BS them and say you were going to do it yourself then decided otherwise then ask if they will do the work or not.

Man i havent priced this stuff in like 5-6 years since i had my last few stangs done but a gear kit shouldnt be more than 250 bucks and then 150 for the full bearing kit. I dont care who makes the gears theres no reason for them to cost more than 300 bucks for a normal non-rockwell style axle. I paid 300 bucks for labor on my last stang i switched to 3.73's. 2350 sounds pretty damn high to me!

Damn, I didn't know they cost that much. I bought my gears and bearings off a guy on ebay taht put front and rear and install kits all together in a package and did them myself. Of course it was difficult but I think I got out less than $600 even after wrecking a couple sets of pinion gears during the install. Who has that kind of money!!!
