Is there an alternate port to plug into OBD2 ?

I tried connecting my OBD2 reader after the mechanic failed to set my cam sensor.. Now my reader won't link to the truck..I mean it doesen't even see a vehicle connected.. I know it works: 1 it's new..2 it linked to my wife's car with no problem. I'll assume the mechanic damaged the OBD2 port...Is there another port in the engine bay ( possibly the other end of the under-dash port) that I can link to? I'm at witt's end with this issue and with inspection due next month I may have no choice but to take her in to Chevy for the 1st time to get the repairs done..

check cig lighter fuse. its prolly blown.
It supplys power to obd2 port

The lighter works.. but the aux power outlets flanking it don't..the fuse isn't blown though.

The mechanic was able to link up using an Autel MaxiDAS DS708 I think (it looks similar if it isn't).. I'm using an Actron Auto Scanner Plus 9580.

Test the terminal for 12+ and see if its live..

Great info.. I lost my pin layout for the '96-up.. and of course the OBD1 assignments that I do have are useless to me.. I'll check this out in the daylight tomorrow.
Thanks, ezdaar!

edzaar.. I checked fuses..they were good, but no power to the OBDII port.. So just for the heck of it I changed fuses to the lighter and Aux pwr... Guess what...the power to the port was restored and the scanner fired right up.. Thank you so much.. Now all I need to do Is find out why my match marks on the distributor didn't keep my timing correct between the cam/crank sensors.. I have a P1345 code coming up..even though I know it would be there I need to zero it in now.. If I'm reading it right I'm +20° ..

unknown at this time.
it is possible you are reading the ign advance by mistake. you are looking for a perimeter called CAM_RETARD. if that reading is correct one you got bigger issues. and for 1999 the rpm should about 2000 rpm or higher when you read it and should be 0.0 degrees +-2.0 degrees.
