I have a 1997 Yukon that has a factory radio and I was wondering if there is a way to wire up a amplifier and subwoofers to it. If so, than how?

Buy a line out converter. Walmart sells them for about $20. That is what I used when I added subs and an amp.

You have to pull the radio and add splices to each output for the converter.

How is that holding up? I've heard mixed reviews about that particular converter.

It works great, I've had it about six months. I'm running 1000w rms off of it.

I wouldn't mind having a aftermarket head unit if they all didn't look so bad/cheap.

I'm thinking of keeping the stock head unit and just adding a bazooka tube to go under the back seats. I have one in my ext cab and it sounds pretty good, but that's also in a small space. I like the idea of putting my 12's but I'm wanting to keep all the cargo room now so I think a bazooka is the way in going. Do I still use this same converter?

The converter lets you hook up RCA wires to your amplifier. Most aftermarket stereos have rca outputs on the back of the stereo, the factory stereo doesn't.

I would build a box for under the back seats. I don't think a tube will fit.

Aftermarket radio would be easier to wire everything too, but as already mentioned a LOC will work just fine. Be sure to make all your connections tight and solid so that none of your wires pull loose and or short out.
