consumer reports rates them lowest on reliability.
and I kind of attributed it to "only whiners respond"

and then my daughter bought one, it came from auction as a trade in....with about 10k on it.

found out why it was traded:
-tranny ejected all fluid one day,
-rear lift gate quit lifting
-tons of little things

she finally dumped it right at ~35k

we have been thinking about getting a new Tahoe, but think the Esky with the bigger motor might do better.

my daughter really thinks we are better off with much less elec gizmos to break.

My tahoe is approaching 100k on it and the only problems I have right now is what seems to be a wheel bearing starting to go, and the struts on the liftgate are shot and wont hold it up. Im not complaining, im hoping to go another 100k without anything major going.

I will say that I wished I had the bigger motor but for what I used it for, the 5.3 does just fine. Im just use to fast things..

Why not split the difference and get a Denali?

I've had both the Denali and now the Esky (about a month) and they're mechanically almost the same vehicle (except magnetic ride on the esky) but with a few interior/exterior trim differences.

They all suffer the same typical issues (random rattles, lock actuators, etc) but fundamentally are stout trucks, especially if the previous owner took proper care of them. The upshot with the Eskys is the longer warranty and the Cadillac Shield for 2011 and newer trucks.

This.

Why I never have and never will buy a Escalade.

I am all for the "Escalade upgrades" like 3rd brake lights etc.....

Mine isn't falling apart at all... Only major thing was an AC compressor that went out along with a few other little things that equaled about $2k but warranty took care of every bit of it except for a 100 dollar deductible. I take good care of it though and the first owner did the same. I just hit 60k miles on it and have a bumper to bumper extended warranty until around 83k and honestly once that happens it's probably gonna get traded in.

Hey the old rovers are great. Beat the hell out of them and still ask for more. But i wont buy a new car due to all the electronics and computers and the fact that its mostly plastic

Soulsea what is this magnetic ride you speak of? I'm interested.

It alters the shock valving according to driving conditions, highway vs city, on the fly.
