I recently bought my 03 Tahoe and did my first oil change tonight. Drained the oil and pulled the old Volvaline filter. I installed new filter and when I removed the fill cap, I see moisture and some yellow stuff down the filler neck.

Truck runs great and doesn't seem to smoke. 194000 miles by two owners and very well taken care of.

What do you think?

Whew. Looks like your correct. I did a little internet research(once I got cleaned up) and it looks likes its probably caused by condensation from cool weather and short trips.

I have never experienced this before..... in 25 years of owning a car. So, I kind of freaked out.

That is nuts not to worry about it.. LOL

OP, he is mixing his oil and coolant. That is something to worry about.
Cracked heads, bad head gaskets, etc...
Engine will go kaboom shortly if not addressed. Should also be cleaned out. lots of crap there. These are the things you see in the junkyard.

That looks like a big problem!!!! Water in oil. What number is stamped on your head near the filler tube. If it is some 7XX number, then you may have the castech heads that crack.

Condensation like that can be caused by a lot of short trips around town. Could easily be nothing to worry about but something worth checking out just to be sure
