I just bought a '12 Tahoe PPV K9 unit at a local auction in NC. White, 116K with only the 2 front seats for the interior. First thing I did was strip out all of the interior, scrub everything, Lysol everything, vaccummed out all of the dust and dog hair and put it back together.

Seems to run well but I need A LOT of interior stuff to get it more user friendly. Just gonna use it as a "work truck" but I'm used to the creature comforts of my Jeep JKU.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello.

Welcome to the forum again from Oregon.

We recommend that you put all your rig(s) info in your signature so we all don’t have to guess at year, make, model, engine size, trans, rear axle locker…….etc. While you may have posted pertinent info in your first post, you may forget to do it again and the info is needed by us anyway. Makes it way easier on all members that attempt to help, to have that info right up front. It is also recommended that you take a pic of your RPO codes, on the inside cover of the glove box, and post that image in your signature. All this info will greatly help those that will try to help with a problem.

If there is any other info, like upgrades, mods or recent mechanical/maintenance work done, that would be helpful in any post as well. Too many times a question is asked by the poster and after about 10 responses we find out that the poster has done recent work to attempt to fix the problem or work that was done that SEEMS not related to the problem.

Hey Beau, I work for a City in Florida. We have had many K9 units over the years. As a suggestion for cleaning, I would drop the headliner as well and clean the topside. The dog dander gets there too and hard to get the odors out if its not all clean. Also I know its a bunch of work but try to clean both a/c evaporators maybe even replace both. Dog hair packs them up, you will have low volume, and still possible odor.

As far as a hitch you can install an aftermarket one and IMO it doesn't look right or find an OE one to install. The OE one replaces the factory rear bumper with the hitch integrated in to it and than sits up behind the bumper skin and not below it like the aftermarket one does.
