Any thoughts on what's causing this problem? All works fine when headlights ( as well as tails ) are ON. If they are NOT, then DRLs are; and right signal is normal. Left signal applied; both tail-lights and both front signals also flash besides intended left signals, just slightly less bright.

strange things happen when you have poor grounds. Current will feedback through another component trying to find a ground. Check your headlights, turn signals and DRLs for ground. Also make sure you have matching bulbs on the left and right side. A different size or brand bulb can cause a higher resistance on that one side and again cause feedback through the other side.

Thanks, just came inside and found your reply. While out there I seem to have eliminated that prob. by removing the side marker bulb that was still working; then both of course. One side burnt out, but those aren't indicated faulty on dash. Still not completely sure why F'd up only when headlights were off, but solved at least. Working fine; grab new bulbs in morning.

Still same prob. Could there be a prob. w/ different style bulbs? I mean: I installed resistors a short time ago, to stop 'hyper-flash' when LED front signal bulbs were added. Still waiting for LED side markers bulbs to arrive. Do they run on same 'wire' and ground to turn side one on, or something along that line? Could having reg. style bulb in there mess things up this way? I didn't notice anything since that install, maybe been doing that since then.

not familiar with hyperflash. I do know if you have a Chinese bulb on one side and an oem on opposite side problems can present themselves. Make sure everything is a matched set as recommended by what ever kit mfg you are using.

I would assume it is due to your resistors or some other wiring that is not factory

Everything matched side/side.
Resistors needed to stop rapid blink caused by LED bulb. That's what I meant to describe by hyper. Think it's because they draw lower than incandescent , making truck think no bulb or burnt.

with the intensity different from side to side when the problem presents it self it sounds like different resistance side to side. Are you supposed to install resistors for leds or some type of diode / resistor circuit. The diode would prevent current leakage side to side.

There are some threads about installing led Esky oem in non Esky. Check out their solution. It could also be you led component. Most aftermarket led tails have circuits built into them

Thanks, had my Recon tails for a number of yrs now, and they do have built-in. Only recently added some LED bulbs into stock assembly up front that required resistors.
