Wanting to get a K&N cai but have some questions. What is the difference between the 57 and 77 series cai? It looks like the 57 series is plastic, correct or not? Is it just plastic vs polished al, respectively. Is there a performance difference between the two.

Yes the 57 is plastic and the 77 is polished. But with the 57 in K&N's teasting you get about 4 more hp, which you are not gonna feel at al so is comes down to do ya want black plastic or polished? I myself have the 57 series.

I was wanting to do something a little different and paint it my body color so the 57 might be better for me. I figure it would be easier to paint plastic than the polished al. Thanks B.

actually with the texture of the plastic you would be better off getting the polished and painting it. Dont think the 57 would turn out very well.

Out of curiosity, what brought the final decision down to the K&N? I've been casually looking around myself at cai's and just wondered...

the main reason I went with K&N is because we sell them and I get them at cost.

I have been doing the same. SLP has a nice system too! K&N seems to be a little higher priced than the others. I guess they need to pay for all that advertising.

I know that these systems eliminate the factory air box and route the air to the throttle body a lot cleaner but what makes it a cold air induction system? Isn't the factory set up technically a cold air induct system too? I have never seen a kit in person only in pictures so there may be more to it than I am thinking.
