ok I want to re do my seats I know a great custom upholstery guy but it will be over a month to get on his to do list. it will cost me 1800 if I pull the seats and drop them off ( full leather ). how do katzkins compare to a hand cut job? I know they use part vinyl so how does that affect quality? also what should I expect to pay?

Find a local Katzkin installer and go and talk to them. That way you are getting info right from the source.

I will be replacing my leather probably in the next couple of months and have been looking at a couple of places online that you can buy the leather. I am not planning on having a shop do this as the work is not too difficult.

Katzkin has a great reputation and their leather is used by a ton of car dealerships that swap out cloth for leather when someone buys a new car. The quality is at a minimum equal to OEM specs and usually a higher grade leather.

I also looked at theseatshop.com as they have some leather replacement options also.

I am not sure which one to go with at this point but I am leaning more toward katzkin based on price. I priced out replacing both bucket seats in the front and the 60/40 bench in the rear and it was $798.00 online.

I would be interested to hear which way others have gone with replacing the leather.

Also looking to recover shabby leather seats, considering Katzkin or custom...

I was thinking about doing the same thing. but when I go on to katzkin's site they say there kits don't fit seats with factory leather on 2 door tahoes.... any one know whats up with that? I wouldn't think the seat frames would be different.

if you find out that they will for sure work with factory leather seats let me know!!

I did katzkin on my silverado and I though the quality was geat. Way better then stock leather. I'd go that route. Did them myself not hard at all.

Don't the seats have to fold forward so you can get into the back seats, therefore different seat frames. Covers are probably cut different.
