Key and Steering Wheel lock issue

I came home from college yesterday and drove my tahoe, and everytime you shut it off, the key gets locked and will not turn backfoward. It seems to do it everytime and I parked the truck with the wheels straight so there was no pressure on the steering wheel, and the key still gets locked into place, even with the steering wheel being unlocked. Then I move the steering wheel back and forth to get the key unlocked and then the steering wheel locks (as it should right?) and most of the time it take literally a minute of moving my steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the locked key before the key will unlock, and at the same time unlock the steering wheel and then all is fine untill I shut it off again. I hope that makes sense. haha. What should I do? All suggestions and comments are appreciated! Thank you
