Knock Sensor (Code: P0327)

Today I took a trip and going back home on the road the check engine light came one (steady on light) took it right away to Autozone for a code check and this is what they told me the code was: P0327 (Knock Sensor). I purchase the part already about $46 and its really really small for compare to it's big price.

Just wanted to ask has any one else had this problem before? any tips, tricks maybe? is there a way to fix the original one instead of adding the new one?

THE BIGGEST QUESTION I HAVE: Were is the knock sensor????

Does the 03 Tahoe have 1 or 2 of this sensors???? Autozone told me 1, post online and comments say it has 2.
What does it do?

From what I was told on my 02 they are under the intake manifold not on the side if the engine. The mechanic that came by to check my manifold for cracks said that's where they are and pointed these two rubber disks at the top with the wire coming out.

there are 2 knock sensors. both are under the intake manifold.
what a knock sensor does is detect knocking, or banging in the engine. when it knocks or bangs enough for the k.s to detect it, it will start pulling ignition timing out of it to prevent damage to be done.
sadly there is no way to fix the sensors except for replace them, 9 times out of 10 the sensor shorts out due to the valley cover o rings leaking and allowing oil, or moisture to collect in the recessed area where the knock sensor is located at. ive done them on a 99 camaro z28. it was a ***** to do being as the intake was half under the firewall cowling. but on these big trucks/suvs it should be pretty easy. you will need a few specialty toold though, 1 of them being a fuel line disconnect tool to disconnect the fuel line going to the fuel rail. in order for you to remove the intake completely.
be very careful behind the intake tho. you will have a big vacuum line coming from the brake booster to the back of the intake. that hose is directly behind your oil pressure sensor, and those o.p sensors are stupid easy to break. feel free to contact me here or via pm if you need help, i can provide pictures too if needed.

Expect 5 hours of shop labor for this. Also I would recommend Intake Manifold gasket, Valve cover gaskets with o-rings, TB gasket, injector o-rings at least the bottom ones. These are all things that are easy to get done while its apart. Some can leak after re-installing. Do it now and you wont have to worry about.

i got away with leaving my tb on, so i didnt need that gasket, as well as leaving injectors in, so didnt need those either.

but i do reccommend intake gaskets, and valley cover and o rings as 98% it was one of the valley cover orings that is leaking oil into the knock sensor area

I agree those where not necessary but while you are pulling everything apart its a good preventative measure and it takes 5 mins when out if you have to replace them after it could take over an hour.

I guess I'm going to cancel EVERY thing one of this days and just do 1 full day on the truck. Guess Ill get some friends over to help out but my main concern is that we won't know how to put some parts back together or end up with one extra screw or something like that. That has happen a lot of time to me actually. I guess I will have to really prepare for it as to record every thing and mark every wire and save every screw and bolt in separate bags to not mix them.
I kind of have an idea already by this video still to many cables around that it scares me not remembering exactly were they go or how as I have had back then with other cars forgotten the spark plug fire sequence and things like that labels falling off n all that.

SteveCZ28 Could you by any chance send me a picture of the oil pressure sensor to be careful on that one, don't have much money to be breaking things by mistake. Would really appreciate it.

Ooo n Yes I will replace intake gaskets and will try to buy the valley cover so I wont have to mess around with that again. Still i don't really understand how they end up cleaning all that up and make the metal shine again like wow.

Take lots of pictures during disassembly worked for me not an extra anything.

Just a bit of time a wire brush, can of carb cleaner and shop air. It makes it look pretty again.
