The OEM tire size for 20" wheels is 275/55-20. Does anyone know what dimensions would still fit based on stock ride height for the OEM 20" wheels?

For example, 275/60-20 seems to be a decently popular size.

Good Post. I am looking for the same info. Just picked up an 08 tahoe for the wife and looking to upgrade tires.

my friend has those goodyear silent armor tired on his denali 20's they are 295/50

That's interesting. Although TireRack doesn't have a 295/50 listed for any of the "SilentArmors". I'll compare to other makes though to find out about the total diameter.

Good thread but I'm hoping this doesn't get closed due to bumping, because I need this info. :D Getting new tires soon.

Understanding tires sizes isn't all that hard. The first three numbers refer to the tread width in mm (the smaller the number the more narrow the tread). The second two numbers refer to the sidewall height again in mm (the smaller the "fatter" the tire looks). If you see a "R" that refers to a radial tire. And the next numbers you may see such as "75" refers to the percentage ratio so tire height would be 75% of the tires width in mm. The last set of two numbers reders to the rim size.

So with your vehicle at rest and loaded you can take a measurement to get an approximation of space available. Just remember on the front when the wheels turn left or right the spacing reduces both at the wheel opening and in the back of the wheel well.
