later model factory head unit

wondering if the later model unit with the single cd as seen in the NBS trucks and other vehicles will be direct plug and play in the obs trucks. is there a difference in power and sound in those? would i be able to do away with the seperate cd player and just have that unit?

x2 aftermarket head units get better Every year ... well quality ones do anyways

thanks. how does one wire in all the rear speakers to an aftermarket unit? there would be 4 rears going to two leads on the aftermarket if im getting it right

If you mean two fronts and four rears then you can get a six channel and split the rear unit output before going into the amp or get a separate amp. for two of the channels. If the head unit does not have separate sub woofer outputs again split the rear in two and feed one set into a sub input on the amp using a frequency filter if needed if the amp can't filter everything but the lows itself.

i know im bringing this back up , but im really considering an upgraded oem unit for my 99 burban. there are many listings on ebay that list the factory delco unit as compatible with our years. the back connecter looks to be the same. im talking about the unit with the single cd in the face. cant i just swap this in? i know the aftermarket units are much better , but this burb is so clean and stock , i kinda want to keep that theme.

i trust what yo guys are saying , but i dont know why all the listings say 92-99.. maybe they mean the unit itself will fit in the dash , but your on your own when it comes to making it work?
