Anytime there is a heavy downpour our overhead lamp in the front over the rear view mirror fills with water and leaks down into the cup holders. I have cleaned the sunroof drains numerous times with no success in stopping the leak. Where else can be causing the leak? I've read that the onstar/xm antenna in other vehicles has caused leaky lamps before but haven't seen that issue on GM vehicles before.

ETA: Don't think its the drain tubes bc I have no water leakage anywhere on the floor boards or A Pillars.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's the antenna. Last big storm didn't get into my lamps but did leak through the headliner where the visors recess. Time for a new antenna, fixed with clear rtv in the meantime.

There are many varieties depending on vehicle options, so use your VIN and or take note of your RPO codes when looking them up. Still not sure which one is for me!

It's under Tires/Accessories / Electronics A/V and Mirrors

would i be able to just caulk around the antenna?

Yes, until the car wash rips it away! Like I wrote, we "fixed" ours with Permatex Clear RTV. That means twice now I've kicked the can down the road! I better just spend the $120 and flip my kids a couple of dead presidents to fix it before it messes something up and costs even more to fix!

Think the right one for me is 25815079 which is for UBS, UE1 and U2K. I don't have the last one but have the first two RPO codes.

Probably could, if you could really slather it on. It would be better if you could unbolt the antenna and get all around the gasket imo. You'd need to drop the front of the headliner down a bit tho.

Here’s a related vid of a guy getting into the headliner of a NBS. Similar to NNBS and allows you to see where to pull and access.

Water in the headliner starts the dreaded fabric sag and the disintegrated padding underneath the fabric circulates in the cabin. It’s like sandpaper in the eyes. If you ever see a driver wearing WWII bomber goggles in his car, it’s because of the headliner dust.
