I've got probs!

I purchased some led bulbs from walmart (yes..) I got 2 194 bulbs for the map lights, and 3 for the second row dome.

When I put the 194s in, I blew a fuse some how, replaced that. Then the map lights worked.

Now they work perfectly, but the left (driver side) map has a very dim glow on when my car is off. I messed with the dimmer switch (all the way down, all the way up) but it didn't effect the glow. I took it out because I was scared it would drain my battery.

Anyone else experience this?
Is it a common issue with leds?

Also I noticed that my right license plate bulb is dimmer than the left one, could those problems be connected?

Lol I knew that was coming my way...

I just don't know what would make it glow like that? Imo, the bulbs work great when I want them on, nice and bright, and work great with the dimmer switch..

Update, I put the 194s in my license plte and they both look great, that one bulb must have been going out.

LEDs take a lot less power to make them work. So even with the light "off" there is still current going through the light socket. Not enough to power a regular bulb but sometimes (in your case) enough to power a LED.

or in some cases like the third brake light on a silverado or sierra. not enough current draw to fully engage the relay, thus get less than 50% lumens or not even light up at all.

Also check the contact point. I got cheap bulbs to start to make sure I even wanted to change them out. The short bulbs had a contact point that I could bend and move.
