Liftgate glass & interior light

Is there a way to not have the interior light come on (and stay on) when the liftgate glass is open? I know I can turn the interior light switch to off, but I'd prefer to keep it on door if there's a way to disable the glass trigger.

I frequently load my dogs in the cargo area and drive with the glass open. It's annoying that the interior lights stay on.
