lighting problem

when i start up my 99 tahoe neither dashborad nor the driving lights come on they used to come on before but now they dont i have to turn them onn automatically..i need help with this problem i really dont know wat it is this time its really annoying cause they use to come on all by them selves but now they dont ... can anyone help me here

well replaced the alternater once cause it was bad and my mechanic put a new one in and it was a precision and apparently it wasnt new it was like refurbished and then the headlights started pulsating and i just replaced it about a month ago i figured that would fix the problem with the driving lights as stated in my original problemm but it didnt fix it i tried pulling the fuses to check them but they all looked fine to me

I would say headlight switch is bad. common problem, could have been caused by the bad alt. or just went bad. dash and exterior lights are controled by the switch assembly.

how do u change that and where is that located

oh wait thats the knob to turn them on and off sorry went dumb for a minute is it easy to change and do u know how much it is to replace it if i do it myself?

Headlight switches are pretty easy to replace. Just pull the big dash piece off, then push the switch out, unlplug and replace.
