LockPick GMx550

was checking out the lockpick GMX550 still have a few questions.. i contacted the company and they mailed me back saying to call them and ask it would be easier... so i figured id check on here.. Just Kinda wanna know before I drop some money on it..

1. It says i can use the stock or aftermarket rear cam.. if thats integrated into my stock wiring would I just plug in the stock harness and be done with it. After I sent this to them I read somewhere you have to cut a blue wire under the dash and attach it to the Lockpicks cam wire.. can anyone else shed some light on this?


2. It says has integration for a aftermarket bluetooth does it retain the stock bluetooth if you don't use aftermarket?

3. It says it works with on star, but will the interface interfere with the on star app.. like sending turn by turn to the head unit and such..?

I can try and answer #1.

The way I understand it is if you want the stock rear cam to function as it does today then yes just plug and play. If you want to be able to use the rear cam when you want, i.e. driving down the road to keep an eye on traffic behind you, then you need to tap into said "blu wire"

I have the GMX550 installed in my Tahoe, so I can try and answer the other two questions -

2. I do not think it will effect the factory bluetooth in any way. It just allows for a hookup of an aftermarket system if you don't happen to have factory bluetooth. I, of course, cannot be 100 percent sure on this as I don't have factory bluetooth. Yet, I can't imagine it causing any problems.

3. I do not have the ability to use the Onstar app as my Tahoe is an '07. Therefore, I cannot comment on that. However, I have never experienced any problems or issues caused to the Onstar system by having the lock pick installed.

well i saw somewhere you have to cut the blue wire if you want control.. but i don't like cutting stock stuff.. i wonder if i could just T-tap it

on 2 and 3 i couldn't see a change but ill call and make sure

I use an aftermarket rear cam kit for my avalanche with the GMX550 LockPick and it works fine. In my Escalade I already had the factory rear cam and it also works with the lockpick. Either one work fine. Hope that helps.

1. I left mine in the factory spot, the only reason you would plug it in to the Lockpik is if you wanted to be able to look at it while you are driving forward.

2. Not sure about this one, I do not have bluetooth.

3. As far as I know On Star operates normally with the Lockpik.

You can buy the GMX-550 off of Amazon for about $282 shipped, and the guy is an authorized dealer and has a 30 day return policy. The factory 1 year warranty stays in place as well.
