Looking at a '98 2 door Tahoe (automatic/4wd) at a dealership and want to get input from you guys. It's that carsomething-or-other red, 200k miles, and it needs a windshield. The driver's side door won't unlock from the outside, and the compartment in the center ceiling console farthest to the rear doesn't open. Inside and out it shows wear expected with its age. It has not been through the detail shop or the inspection process yet. The salesman I talked to started the number game at $2500.

How much would you pay for this truck?
Is there anything in particular I should look for or ask about?

Ya, 2K ish sounds right to me also, windsheild without ins will cost you around $300 alone + other incidentals and it has 200K, so it's been driven around... Overall They are good trucks though and if has been taken care of it'll go alot longer.

+1 on the leaks. not sure if they're talking mechanical leaks or interior leaks, but i'm gonna second the interior leaks. you can have small water leaks that you may never see until you pull back the carpet. barn doors, if yours has it, (back doors) are notorious for leaking, under the carpet of the passenger side front, both are good places to check. water gets there and never dries out and just rusts away from the top side.

Well it's through inspection. They put 2 new tires on and fixed a wheel bearing. Windshield still sits broken, they won't let it go for less than 3, what do you think? Hit it now or keep looking? I'm only in the market for a 2 door.
