Hello,
Currently stationed here in St Petersburg, FL just outside Tampa. Can anyone on the TYF recommend a solid repair shop in the area?
I have a 99 Tahoe 5.7 4WD with a random misfire on the number 5 cylinder. There is also a metal grinding type noise at the top of the engine (both sides) that only occurs between 1500-2000 RPM both in gear and neutral. It sounds like an AC compressor thats going bad but the noise occurs with the AC off. I did get a check engine light and it seemed to run okay otherwise. THe noise was loud and audible inside while driving.
It started on a trip from NC as we got close to Tampa, FL and was constant. The next day after the Tahoe had not been used for 36 hours, the noise was there but not consistent. Same RPM range though.
Doesn't sound like bad lifters or engine knock.
Thank you
