looking to chage stereo unit need advice on what else i need

have a 2004 chevy tahoe want to change out the factory unit to this:

Pioneer FH-X730BS

after watching some videos i think im gonna pay a local shop to do it just so i dont mess it up. what else should i order? i dont want the onstar, just the regular radio, and the steering wheel control. should i order a dash kit? looking to bring all the stuff to the installer.

thanks im gonna find the parts they suggest cheaper elsewhere. the unit was cheaper on amazon so im sure i prolly can find the rest of the stuff slightly less.

Well to keep the the chimes you will need a GMOS-01 or -04 depending on whether you have Bose system or not. You will need the ASWC-1 for steering wheel controls. Finally if the radio is Sirius/XM ready you will need the adapter to be able to connect to XM, that is SXV300. Of course all of that has to be tucked into the dash behind the radio. Best of Luck.

If you're going to pay a shop to install it you should buy the stuff there too. They'll just add onto the price of the install to make up for what they would have made on the sale. You won't save any money buying online and paying for installation. They wouldn't stay in business if people could do that.

Your better off installing this urself our trucks are the easiest to work on. Far as installing a radio and replacing speakers it doesn't get any easier.

That all depends on the stock system you have. The Bose lux system with amp, chimes, data bus tied in, steering wheel controls and whatnot can be complex. An old Honda or Toyota is the easiest.
