that would be awesome, I want to do that some day, just tell me the specs afterwards. Go on youtube and google duramax tahoe. Its a company that maybe able to help you. They have done a few of the,. The swap is very complex IMO. Starts with a new fuel tank, new fuel filler neck, duramax 4" exhaust system has to be custom built, custom engine mounts, pcm and harness which you already have. And you will need a Allison transmission to install behind the dmax motor. Im expecting about 10 grand get you a trans and motor together with low miles. Then you will need some cash to build the duramax.

Let me know how it works out, but here is a link to the duramax tahoe.

This has been covered before. Swap is close to 15k letting that company do it, since u are asking for helP I'm sure ur not gonna do the swap urself. For 15k I could do a sfa, rims, tires, with a built 6.0. IMO I wouldnt do it unless u just have money to blow

There's a few companies that do it, but it takes a lot of wiring and programming to make the d-max computer and tahoe BCM work together. The body lift is a requirement to make room under the hood/trans tunnel, but still expect to make a custom trans crossmember and the like.

You should also look at SFA or at least 2500 front end. That fabtech will drop a lot with that much weight, and those components aren't designed for a 800lb motor not to mention 550+ lb ft of torque. You will want a 14blt FF for the rear end also, as the 10blt will fail with a 5.3 and 33's commonly.

There are tons more details to making it a reliable, driveable vehicle. If you don't have a lot of fab skills and a buddy with a tech II I can't imagine you'd be saving much by not having someone who has this down do it for you. At least you already have the vehicle and motor, so you're only going to have to pay for labor and the smaller items.

you could get away with a 4l80e if you werent gonna build it up much. i seen in a diesel mag they had a built 4l80e on a twin turbo duramax and it was in a chevy station wagon

I would definatly look to keep the Allison behind it. It will def take some time and patience.

Bruce. Why not put a Dmax. That ***** would woop a 6.0 anyday of the week!

I would love to do this, but considering how much money it would cost, I will probably never do it. I'm going to do everything to my Yukon that I want to for now (motor and tranny excluded) and keep her maintained and well taken care of. Once she is paid off AND the engine starts to crap out, then I'll be looking into doing an engine swap... will probably stick with a gasser... probably go with a 6.0L. But, if you have the money and time a Duramax would be effin' sweet!

ummm for 12-15k do you realize what else you can get other than a dmax. hell for 7-8k u could have a fully bolted on 6.0, cammed, twin turboed, with a built tranny. **** spending that much for a dmax in a tahoe

Well, evidently he's not worried bout the coin. And if he does it, he'll have a very rare vehicle, that can pull down a ****** house. Do a 6.0 swap. And just got another ole 6.0 in a Tahoe.
