It should last my heater core went out ony 02 and all i did was cut the hose and redirect it back to the return on the radiator its been like this for about a year i just dont have a heater wich isnt a problem here in texas anytime of the year but the defrost dont work to well either thats the only fall back in the colder months
Your intake gasket might be bad if its chugging water and has the brownish on the radiator cap and nasty overflow tank
The gasket blows on alot on vortecs my old silverado had bad intake gasket and was brown crap and chugged coolant. Alot of members on here have had the problem
Ok, now I got it true what you say but I didn't see it my self I think it happened to tge previous owner I have for 6 months or more even though if it happened I should use the updated gasket right?
It is possible that the previous owner replaced the gaskets with the factory style ones and they have gone bad again. The updated gasket is the Fel-Pro MS98000T.
Are you using dexcool? It looks like you are using just straight water. I ask because you can check for burnt dexcool on the inside of the oil filler cap.
Usually when the intake gaskets are leaking it will leaking down the back of the engine block and drip on the starter.
I would take this leak seriously, water leaked into the oil is not a good thing. It will ruin the engine bearings and may require a rebuild which I'd imagine isn't cheap where you are for a chevy. Keep an eye out for water in the oil and on the dipstick.
I did mine about a year ago. I wasn't that hard and only took 2 days. No special tools needed accept some torx screwdrivers, gasket scrapers, and cleaner for the gasket surfaces. I didn't open up the intake and replace the upper intake like some people do. Mine wasn't leaking on the top, so I left that part alone. I just lifted the whole intake off and replace the leaking lower gaskets.
