lost power steering

Ok so My 2000 yukon 4wd Everything was fine no noise no pull nothing. I flipped a U turn and lost power steering. belt is fine fluid is fine, no noise just very very hard to turn. would the pump make noise if it quit working? what else could it be? Any help would be great.

When my PS pump went out in my dodge truck, it didnt make any noise, just got hard as he!! to steer. And it went out like someone threw a switch.

It is possible that its pressure valve suddenly failed bypassing fluid back into pump instead of to gear. There would be no change in noise or fluid level. Just dead. If you have variable effort steering have that looked into as a possible failure as well. Its valving is typically mounted on the pump.
