I was at a friends house last night that has a relatively steep driveway. When backing out up the driveway, I hear a pretty loud click coming from the rear of the car. Almost like something had popped back into place. Pretty sure it's not the u-joints because those were just done.

I wonder if this is related to my ongoing vibration I have at all speeds, which is prompting me to throw a whole new driveshaft in there. Any suggestions?

The 03 tahoe we traded in on our denali developed a "rumble" vibration upon deceleration or coasting downhill. It turned out to be carrier bearings and i installed a salvage yard 373 inplace of the oem 342. the vibration went away. jack up one side at a time and grab the wheel at 6 and 12 and attempt to rock the axle end up and down. if there is play the carrier is going south. in neutral with ebrake applied on level ground twist the driveshaft and see if there is evcessive lash. it is unfortunate that the auto industry dosent use accellerometers to diagnose bearings/vibrations. one mounted to your tail housing and one on your diff housing would isolate the vibe immediately.

Did find any play in trying to rock the wheel. The *click* just happens once and it doesn't even happen every time.
