Hello there, been here awhile, but am now looking into getting a Tahoe in the next month. Basically, I am just seeing if it is worth it to go LTZ over LT.

My basic list is simple. Heated leather and 4WD. I will probably be replacing the headunit and speakers with the $2k setup that's in my current Impala, so those are a non-issue.

I have heard the main difference is Autoride. So, is it worth getting the LTZ or will the LT suit my needs?

If I am missing some details, I apologize. Please just ask and I will do my best to answer.

Thanks!

Do you tow a lot? often put heavy stuff in the cargo area? travel with 6 extra people all the time? if you answered yes to any of those get the air ride. But the shocks will fail in 40-60k. Then it's another $400+ to replace them.

No to any of them. So I suppose Autoride is not worth it? Is anything else in the LTZ worth the extra $$? Any particular options that I should look for on an LT?

Besides the cooled leather seats, I would say not worth it in any fashion.

Hmm...this is tough. To make it tougher, is it worth springing for an 09 to get the 6 speed?

I say yes... After driving a NBS Sierra with the 4 speed, I say it's definitely worth it. It's like night and day. A lot more get up and go in the lower gears, and a lower cruising RPM.

I was in the same boat. I was having a tough time finding a brand new LTZ around me, so I ended up with the 2012 LT with Luxury Package which included the heated/power seats, which I really wanted.
