figured there is no point in buying one when I can just make one. Got some left over 4" pvc drainage pipe and 2 silicone couplers off amazon. 4" 90* and a 4" to 3.5". Cost about 25 for the pair. I used the stock clamps and drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the tube for the pcv valve. ( I will be making a catch can for it later on) I had to wiggle the drill bit a little to enlarge the hole so it fit. I will be making a nipple coming out of the pipe to put the pcv line on. For now I have the stock piece with a piece of 3/8 line extending it. I had to loosen the upper house clamp and re position the hose a little so it doesn't rub on the tube. I'm going to make a heat shield for the hose and a bracket to help support it better.

I don't know how much better fuel mileage or power it will have, but we'll see soon enough. Definitely a lot louder and you hear the intake a lot more at lower rpm. I put my GoPro on the hood, windshield, and on the dash, took some videos for a before and after ill try and put them together so you can hear the difference.

Heat shield isn't necessary, but paint is! lol

Good job, though. If I weren't lazy (or just time-challenged), I would've done the same except with black pipe and couplers.

I went for whatever's cheapest and these are the colors. I don't need the intake tube laying against a 200*+ hose, cooler is better

I misunderstood what you meant about the heat shield. I thought you meant for the PVC pipe, like you wanted to shield it from the engine bay heat. You mean a shield/spacer to get the radiator hose off of the PVC pipe.

I'm glad someone did this cuz a buddy wants an Airaid MIT like mine but doesn't have the money. I told him he could do pretty much exactly what you did for about $30 (obviously, my estimate was close) and most likely have the same effects as an MIT. His only concern was "using PVC pipe on the nicest vehicle [he's] ever had or ever will have". I told him a light sanding and careful application of black or silver spray paint and no one would ever know it wasn't a kit from an established company.

Good to see someone try this. The intake is mainly for sound and I'm very curious to how this sounds. I was worried because the stock and aftermarket intake tubes seem to have a bend as they travel but yours seems to be fine going straight which is the best angle for air to travel.

Love it!
Here's one I made up for a G8 Pontiac out of stuff from the "speed shop section" at the local Lowe's.

Go shopping and save some money (and have fun, too)!

Since it's straight the Upper house is a little closer to the tensioner than I would like but it won't hit. I was thinking of heating the pipe and putting a slight bend in it but it's good for now. I also tried routing the hose over the tube and it clears the hood but it looked funny.

We went the Air Raid MIT route on our Tahoe, which is little more than a couple of couplers and some bent plastic pipe. Frankly, it sounds pretty bas-ass when you crack the throttle open.
