Magniflow to quiet. Whats next?

I had the Magniflow 12589 put on our tahoe and hacked off the resonator. At first it seemed perfect as my wife wanted it to remain quiet. But she recently told me she wished it was louder so she could"scare people next to her when she punch's it". This came as a bit of a suprise to hear her say but I'm going to jump on the opportunity to get some more noise out of the truck! I'm wanting to know if anyone has been in this situation and see what they ultimately ended up with. Whats the next step up? Only looking at muffler replacement right now. Im not ready to commit to a catback.

Borla ProXS 40359 would a be nice one. Theres a video on here of a member who installed the Borla and removed the resonator and it sounds awesome. I installed this muffler on my 2008 tahoe and loved it.

my current truck has a Carven TR series and its awesome but I think it may be too loud for what you/wife is wanting

I hit up a few exhaust vids of the borla and that sounds pretty sweet! Nice deep rumble. This may be what I am looking for. Thank you for the recomendation.

Not going to far with it as this is my wifes daily and our family travel vehicle.
At least until I pic up a G8 in the next year or so.

Too quiet seems to be a common complaint of the oval Magnaflow mufflers. The round magnaflow mufflers don't have that sort of feed back from people. I suspect that that will be true for just about any oval vs round muffler that is a straight through design like yours. I would recommend looking for a similar Magnaflow in a round design. You can "tune" your sound by changing the diameter and length, but I forget the specifics. I would probably recommend going with the 12867.

If you haven't deactivated DOD/AFM, then the 4cy mode will become more noticeable with a louder exhaust and I am told that it sounds like crap. About like a Flowmaster Series 40 on a 4 banger is what folks say it sounds like.

If you are stock up to the muffler (ie OE pipe and cats) you could go with high flow cats and increase your sound some. Losing any secondary cats, will give a volume increase also, but is not always possible due to local requirements.

Magnaflow offers a ton of different mufflers sizes---smaller ones are louder, and larger ones are quieter. Get a sense of the muffler loudness using math: length of case x width of case x height of case. The bigger the number the quieter the tone. Not an exact science by any means but a decent reference.

Magnaflow 11229 is smaller/louder and same size IN/OUT and CENTER/OFFSET. Would just have to add a short extension piece.

I made a MagnaBlow mistake once on my 2003 Hemi Ram. I was very unhappy, they are a "family man's" muffler.

I'm running a Flowmaster Super 40, and love it. Drones a little at 75mph but nothing major. Sounds outright mean at WOT.
