So I put a mcgaughy's 2/3 spindle on my wife's tahoe a few months back. I never drive the truck but recently she complained of how horrible it's riding and she hears a clunking noise. Upon further inspection I realized that the shock extenders that McG provided to keep utilizing the factory shocks with the 3" drop in the rear WERE MOVING. They only install with a couple bolts and they were litterally pivoting everytime the truck hit a bump (picture the way your knee moves). So I got under the truck. Tightened the crap outa them and a week later, same problem.

I thought about welding them on and I know that would fix the problem but quite frankly that's taking something not permanent and making it so added to the fact the ride quality is like dog shit with the drop. What do I do? Has anyone else experienced this problem. What is the absolute BEST riding 2/3 drop? I thought it was supposed to be McG. The front rides excellent btw...the rear feels like there is a trailer full of bricks being towed behind the truck...bouncy on some bumps and stiff as shit on others if that make sense.

I'm not dying to buy a whole new kit. Maybe something for the rear. Maybe just new shocks in the rear. What shocks to the police package tahoes use? Enough with the rambling...onto the answers...who has some?

Hey Gerod, yeah its the McG kit that is giving you troubles. Outside their drop spindles, their stuff for these SUVs suck!!!
When I had those wheels I used Belltech compenents with McG spindles and it rode good.
Also those extenders are probably pivotiong because with then extenders are three bolts, two bolt to the stockk shock location, while the last is meant to stop them from pivoting, bolts to a the bottom of the area that the shocks bolt too.
Basically the bottom of the lower shock bracket area has a hole that those exenders are meant to bolt to. Those bolts probably fell off which is causing the pivoting, the exact same thing happend to me.
I say you switch to the Belltech 23323 rear PRO coil kit that comes with new bumptops and a 3"-4" rear drop coil. Then pull the stock shocks off and the shock extenders and buy some drop shocks and you'll be good. I say get shorter Bilstein shocks.

Thanks for the info Neo and the PM Tony. I gotta figure something out b/c this just aint cuttin it right now.

After that gets worked out it needs a set of sway bars. Got any recommendations?

I'm gonna get my wife something different and make this the "Tahoe SS" GM wish they made so I'll be sellin the 24's NEO sold me one of these days and going with something a little less blingy and a little more sport. I know Tony worked his ass off getting the TBSS 22's into production and I really want that look with some new wheels but 22's on these gmt900 tahoes look so damn small. Get FR to make me some 24's in the TBSS look Tony lol.

trust me i talked to david and doug that. it took 2 years of me working with them to get the 22x9 made for my trailblazer community.

hands down if you want the best swaybars out there the djms are. the fronts are a 1.5 inches.

now if you start going into motor mods i have a few things also ive tested which will make that thing pull great and drive no problems. Look at my wifes tbss things a monster runs low 11s and my wife drives it everyday.

honestly in rear if you want I can shoot you the tb 4 inch rear drop springs with a 1 inch belltech spacer and you can try that ride out in the rear. I think you would be really happy.
