Alright here is my on going problem with my Tahoe.

It's a 2000 nbs tahoe 5.3l V8 with 115K on it.
For about a year now I've had that high pitch ringing sound telling me the fuel pump is going to go bad soon. The service light comes on intermittently and the code P1416 or P1416 (pd) comes up. Today when I started the car it turned over... idled rough for a second then shut off. I turned it on again and it started right up.. I revved the engine up a little to see if it would do it again and it did not. Every once in awhile when I turn the engine over it seems like I don't hold the key forward long enough because it'll almost start then squeal and then I have to restart it.. holding the ignition over longer. If anybody has any help or ideas on what's going on please help me!! I am driving down 99 this weekend and don't want my Tahoe to break down. Oh and this afternoon I decided to clean my K and N drop in filter cuz it's been awhile.. I did this to see if it would help solve anything. Please let me know your thoughts!! Thank you!!!!

Well? did cleaning the filter do anything? It sounds like you kind of already know what is going on based on symptoms and/or codes. Get it fixed man! You'd hate to be stranded for something you could have prevented. And you know, things never break when it is convenient.

Oh, the fact that you have a K&N, makes me suggest to make sure the MAF is clean. One less variable.

Just do it,

How do I go about cleaning the MAF sensor? Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it! So you would agree that it's the fuel pump? I don't know what the P1416 code is.

That is the secondary air injection system, bank 2. The air injection pump might be bad.

To clean the MAF, go to an auto parts store and get some MAF specific spray cleaner, just be sure not to touch the little wires in the MAF and no compressed air on the MAF, let it airdry!
Sounds like a fuel pump, don't just drive it especially on a road trip unless you like being stranded, it could go out today or a month from today if that is indeed going out! Happened to my buddy on the way to a 3 hour destination, broke down in the middle, had to drop the tank on the freeway half full of gas!!
