Running a Hertz DSK165 (entry level) component set in the front and rear doors of my '00 Yukon, 15" l3 solobaric in a slotted box. Hertz components are on a 4 channel amp and seeing approx 125w @ 4ohms.

Heres the concern, my midbass is lacking, no matter where i cross them over, im getting hardly any upper-bass response out of these components, is it the nature of our big doors to swallow up the bass, or is this speaker known not to reproduce these frequencies great? they of course sounded wonderful on the audio shop showroom, and @ $150 a set i felt i couldnt go wrong....:chair:

Did you do any sound deadening while you had the doors open? You need to cover all of the large holes in the doors to separate the front and back waves to help with your midbass response

Maybe deadening will be key here, i only deadened the immediate area around the door speakers really, would you say the response is a dramatic difference?

I have seen ENORMOUS gains by deadening the inside of the outer door skin, as well as completely sealing up the doors.
I will try and find the link that showed me how to do it.
I cannot find the exact vid or web page I read, but these two videos show exactly what was done.
dynomat inside the doors then the heavy aluminum to seal up all of the holes on the door.
Its important to make sure its completly sealed or it will make noise as the air rushes in and out of some small gap.

The problem is you can't completely seal our doors because of the clips that slide into holes on the door...So you can only do the best of what you can. As far as difference I couldn't tell you, haven't deadened mine at all yet. Have a roll of stuff laying around, just hasn't been super high on my priority as mine don't sound too terribly bad as is.
