Mirror Question

Well, It's been awhile fella's (Trend here)! For some of you we go way back! But anyway, to the question. My 09 Tahoe is getting painted matte white next week, and wanted to start taking the truck apart. I've got most of it figured out, but does this little dude pop out? It feels like a pop out. Just wanted to be sure!

Yep. Fold the mirror in, then give the black portion near the pivot a good rap (or two) with the heel of your hand. It'll dislodge the back of the mirror from the rest of the housing. Then, you can get the top apart from the bottom more easily.

I watched a body guy try to get the top portion unhitched with tools, and it didn't go well.
