If they gave you a written explanation of the diagnosis it would be great if you could post it for us to see.

I can’t see how one misfire code means a new engine. Take that truck to another mechanic!

95% of the time it’s a plug and/or coil. Then if that’s not it the injector.

Or a valve spring, bent pushrod.

Yep, but that would be much of a “low probability” cause of a misfire but even that can be fixed without a new motor. Seems like a lot of these dealers don’t want to open the engine and repair it and just take the big money job and replace the motor.

I’d also check to see if an independent mechanic would take a second look instead of a dealer.

How about cost assistance from GM? anyone heard about it
not unless you happened to have some kind of warranty that maybe just ended like very recently, sometimes,,,,,,,,if you were extremely lucky
but being it is a 18 and 80k, pretty sure that's a hard no

I told them that if after 80k i need new engine, it is mean that GM has really really bad engines.
That tells me probably that cylinder was bad from the beginning and it took 7 years before it shows up.

I personally think you should skip the new diagnosis and have a different shop put a plug and possible coil and see if that fixes the issue if not possible injector. I just think with paying for diagnosis again might as well try and fix the issue in my opinion. Good luck.
