Motor Swap Question 97 Tahoe

Hi, I have a 1997 Tahoe with a bad motor. It is a 5.7 vortec. I have found a 2006 5.7 in a Z71 P/u. I am wondering if it is a direct swap. Especially in regards to computer. My intake and all sensors on my 97 are fine.

They still used the 5.7 in 2006?! I don't think so. Pretty sure they switched to the 5.3L around 2002 or even earlier.

2000 was the last year you could get the ol' 350 in a Tahoe. 1998 for the pickups.

Rebuild the motor that is in the truck.

You either have a typo and were thinking a 1996 Pickup

Or you are looking at a 2006 truck with either a 4.8/5.3/6.0 motor.

If it was me, swap out the 5.7 for a 5.3 or 6.0. Your Tahoe would love you for it. They are much better motors anyways than the 5.0/5.7 TBI's/Vortecs

It is not a direct swap but well worth the trouble if you are able to do it yourself or pay someone to perform the swap.
