Clean your MAF and throttle body. You may have also gotten bad gas.

The tow feature will keep your transmission from switching into OD, so that will effect it a lot. It sounds like you are trying to use your Range meter to gauge your mileage? The range function is real time, so if you are driving with the tow feature on and accelerating it will show a large decrease in a short amount of time. What does the real time mileage and Avg Economy options show for your mileage?

Agreed - the "only" accurate way to gauge fuel consumption is to pull out the old calculator.

Using the tow feature will cause you to use a considerably larger amount of gas, like stated above.

If it legitimately is burning through gas that badly, then something else is certainly the culprit, but I'd withhold judgement until you investigate a little bit further...

Bad gas can also be a culprit. Keep a running average from fill up to fill up - that will be more telling.

is it time to replace the k&n filter?

Your the only one that would know the answer to your ?
Take a look at it and determine from there, when was the last time you serviced your K&N ??? and how does it look ????
Then spray some MAF sensor cleaner (ONLY MAF sensor cleaner) on the MAF sensor, just follow the directions on the spray can.
Go to gas stations that appear to be busy and try to use a known quality gas.
Premium is always the best bet, I use Premium in everything including my lawn mower.
