I just joined this forum hoping to learn a little bit and get some advice on my new truck. I just bought this 2011 Tahoe LT 2 days ago and i love it. I am going to go for the whole "white on black" look. I want to get a black set of 22'' or 24'' wheels but a friend of mine said not to get 24's because I do a lot of highway driving, and 24's won't ride as smooth as 22's. Any advice?

Congrats on the new purchase Danny and welcome to the forum ... nothing like a shiny hew hoe! :)

To answer your question on wheel size ... Having had both 22s and 24s on the least difference in ride quality was on the highway. City driving is where I could feel the stiffer ride.

A couple of other things to consider on 24s is the additional strain they put on the brake and power steering systems ... not a huge deal but noticeable nonetheless.

The stormtrooper look is definitely eye catching ... although it is always more effective with white rims. My observation is that black rims with the black tires against the black wheel wells on a white truck kind of get lost visually ... in essence what one sees is one big black area and the wheels themselves don't stand out.

Cheers!

I will agree with what he said, I have 26" black kmc and the tire blends with the rims and people think I have 22-24s. I may get the black powder coated white.

Thank you for the wisdom soulsea. I think I am going to go with 22's for now. Looking at a couple different sets of Giovanna/Gianelle wheels... Looking forward to getting some new ideas from the forum!

Don't you mean "black on white?" After all, your truck is white -- and you'd be putting black parts on it... :)

I want to get a black set of 22'' or 24'' wheels but a friend of mine said not to get 24's because I do a lot of highway driving, and 24's won't ride as smooth as 22's. Any advice?

I see farther down that you talked about getting some aftermarket rims. Like I've said in other threads, just be careful of getting rims in 22" that have a lip on them. Seems that a sizable lip makes a lot of these wheels look smaller than they really are (which is fine if you're after that, but most aren't). If you stick with a 22" (which I am -- for now, anyway), consider something with spokes that are flush/nearly flush with the sidewalls. They'll look bigger.

Good luck!
