As I had mentioned in my new member thread. I've recently acquired a 1999 tahoe. For the most part it's a pretty clean truck. With 175,000 miles on it. The previous owner never wheeled in it, and basically used it to get to hunting camp and back. He'd fix things when they broke, and didn't mod anything. Go me!

That said. It has a few little gremlins that old trucks like this will have. So I'm working slowly. I've had the truck for two weeks now. And work has had me crazy busy. But I've managed to change the wipers, oil, and diff fluids. RainX the windshield, and put a K&N filter on it.

I'd like to change the plugs and wires next. And it looks like I'm leaking a little oil out the rear main. Not much, but a little leak becomes a big one pretty quick. Anyway.... on to my question... After plugs, wires, and dropping the pan on the transmission. I'd like a set of LT headers, and was wondering which one is the most popular. I drive a LOT because of work, and anything to squeeze a little more MPG into the truck goes a long way. I don't want to do a tune untill I've got the intake and exhaust done.

Do not drop the pan of the tranny unless fluid is noticeably damaged someway. Don't use just a air filter, use a FIPK. The induction system has drawbacks and it is mainly the ducting which disturbs the air. For mileage, at a minimum, match your tire pressures to that of the sticker on the driver door/jamb. Also if you have auto4wd use autotrac2 blue fluid in the tcase, not tranny fluid.
