It’s taken about 2 years of on and off again work and a *** of cash, but I finally got her about where I want her. I owe many thanks to the folks on here for recommendations and their knowledge. Sunlit deserves a lifetime supply of beer.
Here’s a little time line with some pics. Some of the pics are of how tweaked a few of the components where that I replaced. Others are some shots with and without the new stuff overtime. Most everything on the last project was underneath the skin. I need to get her buffed and waxed and do another photo shoot.
Gone through a couple trannys and had to replace the rear diff in the late 90’s
2010/11
Started with new paint (not too pleased with the paint job)
-Complete redo of the interior. Carpet, seats, and headliner.
-Replace front brush guard
-Replace Nerf Bars.
-Powder coated tail light guards. Rhino discontinued that style and I could not find new/ used ones. They’re the only ones I liked. But the powder coat brought them back to new condition.
-Redone Flow Master exhaust. Series 40.
-New rims. ProComp Knight Chrome. Procomp tires.
2012
-New grill. All black
-HID lights. Ridiculously bright. I’m now “that guy” on the road.
-Cold Air intake.
2013
-Repower with zero time crate motor from Jeggs.
-Compressor
-Evaporator
-Spider Injector
-Fuel Pump
-Power Steering
-Thermostat
-Intake Gasket
-Dist Cap
-Dist Rotor
-Plugs
-Water pump
-Wire Kit
-Power Steering Line
-Engine mounts
-Headers (stock)
-Stabilizer link
-All Tie Rods
-Left/Right Axel
-Control Arm Bushings
-Control Arms
-Ball Joints
-Shocks
The suspension was a mess. Completely worn out so basically everything needed to be replaced. I was close to loosing the front right wheel completely. Very alarming. I knew it needed work, but not to the extent that we had to take it. Really went over budget on this one! But it had to be done.
It rides like a dream. Solid as a rock. The thing feels like it did when it was new. I’m actually a little surprised at the new engine. It doesn't feel all that more powerful on the low end. At freeway speeds it feels much stronger though. And in general sounds better. But that may be in my head.
2013/14 Next on the list:
-Electric 4x4 has some gremlins that need to be addressed.
-Leaky seal in the transfer case
-Transmission cooler
-Black Bear tune.
-Tow kit
-Stereo System needs to be brought up to modern times
-More road friendly tires.
-Short in the power locking/keyless system
-Electric Fan
-Recover steering wheel.
