napa control arm bushing saga

So...I had the new bushing pressed in but had it done at a different shop.

Initially, the reason I didn't do the pressing myself was I didn't have a cup that would go over the end of the bushing to contact the outer collar, ie pressing in using the inner collar just squished the rubber.

At the new shop I asked what they thought...had they ever seen a bushing collapse the way this one had? They felt it had been pressed in wrong, someone had loaded up the small end of the bushing and dislodged the rubber from the outer sleeve.

Frankly, that makes more sense to me than the bushing failed so I decided to not get Napa to pay for the new bushing or the labour.

I'm happy napa came thru with taking responsibility but after giving it some thought I don't think it was their fault.
